Opportunity DC Testifies in Support of the BEST Act at the DC Council

Opportunity DC's Executive Director, Malcom Fox, recently testified in support of fully funding the Business and Entrepreneurship Support to Thrive (BEST) Act. The BEST Act streamlines the process for obtaining a basic business license, narrows the number of license categories from over one hundred to eleven, and reduces the associated license fees. Making the business license process cheaper and easier to navigate will especially benefit aspiring entrepreneurs who historically have fewer resources to start a business.

Mayor Bowser included $26 million over the four-year financial plan to implement and fund the BEST Act. The Council will decide whether or not to preserve that funding. You can find a link to Malcom's full written testimony here.
