Congress Considers Draconian DC Budget Cuts

Last night, the U.S. House passed a Continuing Resolution (CR) that will force the District government to cut $1.1B in core services and programs. Even though as DC tax payers we fund these programs entirely on our own!
Republicans are slashing funding for schools, firefighters, and law enforcement. Tell Democratic Senators to vote NO on the CR that deprives Washington, D.C. of $1.1B!
This CR would cut the following programs in DC's FY25 budget:
$357M from DC Schools
$217M from WMATA & Metro
$75M from the Metropolitan Police Department
$63.6M from Police and Firefighters pensions
$38.9M from the Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department
$5.8M from the Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services
Teachers, firefighters, and police officers could be laid off if this CR passes. Tell Senate Democrats to do the right thing - preserve DC's budget that is paid for with DC dollars!
These cuts will make Washington, D.C. less safe and jeopardize vital services for everyone who lives or works in the District.
Please, take 1 minute to email Democratic Senators and tell them to vote NO on the Republican CR that deprives DC of $1.1B. And after you do, please forward this email to 5 other DC residents and ask them to make their voices heard!
Thank you for fighting alongside us.
Sincerely,
Malcom Fox,
Opportunity DC Executive Director
